• A PSYCHOLOGY QUIZZ!  AND IT’S ONLY ONE QUESTION FOR SELF-ANALYSIS!

Can ONE QUESTION GIVE YOU RESULTS ABOUT YOUR PSYCHOLOGICAL MAKE UP?  Unlikely, but what if you take a few minutes, relax, unwind, take some deep breaths…..maybe grab a pen and paper….and answer my one question.  One additional caveat….I made this test up and have ONLY anticotedal data to lend credence to what it tells you about yourself.  I CAN say I’ve given the one question test to numerous clients — that’s the source of my anticotedal data!  My “results?”  Most people find it reflective and helpful!  And it opens exploration and conversation, and therapeutic discourse  about many other aspects of “the self.”  Hey, that’s all I’ve got!

Here’s the QUIZZ/TEST.  You are standing in a hallway facing two doors. Your test is  to choose to enter one of the two doors. One door opens to a room that is full of approximately 100 men.  One door opens to a room that is full of approximately 100 women.

WHICH DOOR DO YOU CHOOSE TO ENTER?

TRY TO SELECT THE FIRST DOOR THAT COMES TO MIND.

Once you’ve made your choice, take some time to reflect on what the answer to the one question actually means. Here are some ideas for you to consider.

-did you choose the room of the same or the opposite sex?

    -can you explain your choice?

-was it easy to choose, or did you have to give it some thought?

-did you find the choice confusing or simple?

-did you vacillate? Or did you immediately choose?

-upon reflection, are you more at ease/comfortable in a room of the same sex? Of the opposite sex?

-do you have an easy or a challenging answer to that question about same or opposite sex?

-do you see application of your choice and your emotional response to the choice in other areas of your life?

-do your feelings impact the way you relate to people in your family?

-do your feelings impact the way you relate to people in your friendship circle?

-do your feelings impact the way you relate to people you work with?

-FINALLY, do you think your choice and your answers tell you something helpful about yourself?

See if you would find it useful to continue to reflect on your answers to these questions…and if you have any follow up questions. You can always be in touch with me and ask any questions you might have.  My goal is to help the exploration of the self. The best NEXT step is to talk about yourself with someone! It does help to talk to others….that’s different from sharing on line or texting…it’s truly about TALKING. Hearing your own voice in interaction with others — discussing things that matter, is powerful.  Give it a try. You deserve to feel as good as you possibly can.
